with being a political satire, ‘Satyagraha’ also has its share of
emotional upheavals in terms of friendship and father son relationship.
Flop films are like a security guard
Director Prakash Jha, on the success of Satyagraha

“I scripted the story with a pinch of
political taste as well as having an intriguing emotional presentation
of relationships. In terms of a father and son relationship as well as
friendships. Relationships, which undoubtedly keeps the audiences glued
to the silver screen. I always fear whether I will successfully in
presenting all the emotions in the right ratio,” he shares and adds,
“The young India is trying to bring in a change in the system by making
the government accountable. I am always apprehensive whether the story
will reach the audiences. Yes, I opine that slowly and steadily the
success will be measured in 1000 crore.”
On Manoj Bajpayee giving a stupendous performance, he says, “What do you mean by saying I am a hard task master. Infact, when I discuss the story with everyone I enthuse the idea about the character. Performances have to be given by the character. Manoj’s dialogues have been written in a manner that has to be said coolly. He is a brilliant performer; nonetheless he has put life into the character.”
Sharing his take on friendships, he says, “My friendly bonding with my school day friends continues. Whenever, we get time we converse with each other. Yes, in Bollywood, I have made friends with some, had some differences of opinion and after few years again we sorted out those differences. This happens generally with all the friends.” And adds, “Some friends we make and in a short time, the friendship gets destroyed. Friendship is an important part of everyone’s life. Each one of us need an emotional infrastructure around us. So, friends do play an important part in our life. Why only in Bollywood, it is seen and noticed everywhere that due to certain selfish reasons many friends leave your side.”
On filmmakers in Bollywood finding solace in other’s films not working well, he shares, “Actually, when few people are unable to succeed and find the films of others not faring well, they do derive a sort of satisfaction. This is a very typical state of mind. The flop films of others are like a security guard for them. Indeed a strange psychological reaction, which surely happens with most of the Bollywoodians.”
