Jiah Khan’s untimely demise, reportedly a suicide has come as nothing less than a nightmare for her fans and industry peers. We spoke to few stars as to how they can deal with the pressures of constantly being in the spotlight.
“A lot of times in the industry such incidents occur where you are discouraged, you are told things like ‘you can’t be an actress’ so you have to fight all of that. And if you believe in yourself, then you will surely rise above such situations. You can take it up as a challenge rather than being sad and sitting down at home. When such adversities come in one’s life only then we realize our true strength,” says actress Madhuri Dixit who doesn’t see suicide as a way out.
Actress Monica Bedi says that rather than just having faith in herself, her loved ones and family have been her pillars that have helped her bounce back. “The love, blessings and support of my parents have brought me out of all the dark episodes in my life.” She also feels that prayers have helped her pull through all adversity and shares, “‘Big Boss’ entry was the beginning of my new lease of life. I remember when I was not able to purchase a house in Mumbai suburb because people were scared to let be part of their society, I felt very sad.” But she reiterates that life is too precious and suicide is no solution at all. Talking about her current phase in life, she says, “I am happy that I am doing ‘Saraswatichandra’, a serial which I am enjoying to the fullest. Life is worth living and we all need to handle tough situations and not give into them.”
Rahul Mahajan, the political honcho on the other hand says that he relies on survival instinct. Although, he personally did not know Jiah Khan, he confesses that the life of a celebrity has its own share of problems. “Being in this uncertain profession, I think we need to have strong bonding with our family and friends. Our childhood friends are the ones who can always help us come out of depression or rid you of any bad habit. People will talk about celebs but we should be able to differentiate our reel life from our real.” Pointing out the life of Amitabh Bachchan who has also struggled a lot, he says that by overcoming them he has proved to be a winner. Sharing his downfalls, he says, “Yes! I have had sour experiences but this doesn’t put an end to my dreams. I am able to lead a happy life because I want to make the best of this one lifetime given to me.”
Actress Ira Dubey says that if someone has chosen to walk the path of stardom, they should be ready to pay the price. They key is to maintain a balance as she shares, “I personally never gave into the uncertainty that prevails in this profession. I am a strong person who knows how to fight out testing times. Thanks to my mom who always inspires me.” Talking about making the most of all her talents, she adds, “When I am not doing films, I start exploring my other potentials like singing, dubbing. In the film industry, one has to become thick-skinned, only then you can survive.” In the end she shares that life is a wonderful gift bestowed by God and that one should make the most of every precious moment.
