It’s Satyagraha time for Arjun Rampal

Arjun Rampal who will be soon seen in a key role in the political drama ‘Satyagraha’ seems to have become a lucky Mascot for Director Prakash Jha. On being asked about the same, Arjun replied, “I have not signed any contract with Prakashji. But yes, when you work with any director, it so happens that you do get to work with them again. Prakashji always tells me, you are a versatile actor. He always gives me challenging parts to play. He gives me something different to play and I also accept the challenge. Yes whenever a character is given to me, I do work on it and I try to come up to the range of the director by adding my inputs with his.”
Explaining about his character in ‘Satyagraha’ Arjun added; “My character in ‘Satyagraha’ belongs to a small village. He has his own life style and gets associated to a strong political party. The influence of politics is very powerful. I follow a dialect more so as its from Madhya Pradesh. I think developing my character is a share of 50% work from my side and about 50% from the directors’ end.”
We couldn’t help but compliment the actor on his improved Hindi conversation skills to which he smiled and replied, “Definitely my Hindi has improved. Having worked with Prakashji who has pure Hindi dialogues for his characters to speak requires the actors to speak the language with perfection.”
Sharing his personal experiences with Political activism Arjun reminisced “I had just joined my college in Delhi while
the Mandal Commission was going on. We were
taken to India Gate where we witnessed people doing self immolation. It was just first month of my college and having witnessed it made me
feel damn horrible. I
was just 17 to even understand as to what was going on.”
Arjun also shared his personal philosophy on relevance of Non violence in today’s world saying’ “Team Anna got finished because they could not get to any conclusion. I believe in Gandhiji’ ‘Satyagraha’ policy. I feel we can put forth our point of view in a peaceful manner and sort out any problem amicably. Well! I do not believe in eye for eye action. Also I do not believe in just turning my left cheek to someone who has slapped me onto my right cheek. In any radical movement innocent people lose their lives. This is what we need to take care of. Hence we have to avoid any active actions. It is always better to peacefully settle down the score and come to a positive conclusion what so ever it may be.”
Arjun, who had been amongst the top male model of the country for a long time before foraying into the acting industry, sees himself evolving every day. “Being in the profession I definitely find a drastic change in me. I have become more controlled on par with my temper. I am more focused and calmly take all my decisions. I have learnt my lessons and so I am able to decide what is good and what is bad for me. I chose films with utmost care. Films which touch my heart are more close to me, I instantly okay them. Knowledge on par with business also increases. I can efficiently go ahead with my business professionally. My goals are very clear to me. In my coming phase I surely will have increased on my niche audiences,
especially for the kind of film I am choosing. Films indeed give enjoyment and good messages to the audiences.” He concluded
