Ram Gopal Varma is angry with the media
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has dismissed reports of an alleged rift with the Bachchans which have been doing the rounds since he replaced Abhishek in his upcoming film Department and says that his relation with them is still 'sacred'.
"I have high respect for Mr Bachchan and am highly affectionate towards Abhishek and the reasons for changes in Department are nothing but date issues," Varma said on micro-blogging site Twitter. Varma was allegedly furious after the media reported the replacement in a manner intended to create problems between him and the Bachchan family.
When Department was announced there was a buzz that both Amitabh and Abhishek would star in the movie. But on April 23, Varma posted on Twitter, "I am going ahead with Rana Daggubati instead of Abhishek Bachchan in Department due to date problems." Varma came out strongly against journalists manipulating facts in a bid to catch the maximum eyeballs.
Responding to remarks that he had allegedly spread a vile SMS revealing the end of Rohan Sippy's Dum Maaro Dum , and that he had made disparaging remarks about Abhishek's performance , he said, "I haven't even seen the film still he (journalist) went ahead and did a story how I SMSed about DMD... now my question is what I could have and to whom."
