Learning the norms of Bollywood
Hailing from the Army background, it took me some time to learn the ways of moving ahead in this profession. This field is amazing in its own ways. Belonging to this glam world, new avenues have opened up for me. People here adjust and adapt to new things pretty fast, but thanks to my background, it didn’t take much time for me to become one of them. Yes, it’s a competitive world here, but in the end it’s your talent that gets you work, and more work. Besides, contrary to common perception, people here are friendly and helpful. And while I am still new here, I have leant a lot from whatever experience I have got here. I can only describe these past years as good enough to give me a kick.

Signing a contract with Sameer Karnik
Let me clear that first: I have not signed any contract with Sameer. This is my second film with him. He felt that I suit the character and that’s how I got this role. Working with him is fun as he guides you with all the nuances of a character. He is also distinctively clear about what he wants in a character. This is important for me as an actor as it helps me do justice to the role.

Her character in CDKC
I play a happy go lucky girl next door. She is simple and full of energy. The song from ‘Chandni’ is the highlight of the film, though there is no similarity to the way it has been shot.

Miffing the Deols
I was always there for the promotions of ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’, if that’s what you are talking about. I am lucky to be a part of the film and given a second chance I will definitely like to work with the Deols. I never ever had any problems with them.

Projects in hand
Actually I have been offered quite a few roles, but most involved showcasing my body than my acting, so I had to let go of them. I am not desperate to get work. For me, the kind of characters I play are important than the films I do in a year. I need roles that are strong enough.

Idolising Vidya Balan
Vidya is undoubtedly an intelligent actor. She infused respectability in to sleaze by playing Silk. I do not think any other actor could have done justice to the role. She is a confident actor. Her body language suited the character of Silk so well.

Less is more
I am a confident person, but that doesn’t mean I will wear a bikini onscreen just for the sake of it. I need to be convinced before I don a glamorous outfit. Also, I think that the trend of wearing less on screen is becoming passé. Nowadays filmmakers too don’t want their female leads to wear something revealing if the story doesn’t demand it. For me, doing good work is more important than showing skin.

Dream team to work with
I would love to work with the likes of Raju Hirani and Anand Rai. Yash Raj Films is another banner I dream of working under. I find the people there gentle, and am willing to wait for my turn.
