‘I do not like negative criticism’
Sonakshi Sinha nearly stole the limelight from Salman Khan in her debut film ‘Dabangg’. Despite having delivered so many hits, she is still grounded and humble.
However, having worked with Dabangg Khan for the second time she says, “I am lucky to have got a break with Salman and worked with other big actors in such a short span. I am here because of Salman’s advice, he was the one who asked me to slim down and be the part of celluloid. I have done my job of performing my best in D2.” She goes on to add, “Although I am not married it does not mean I will not know how married women behave. I have been seeing married woman all my life so it was not very tough to perform the role of a married woman at this age.”
She smiles and says, “I do not think I am the kind that I will ever like to get married to a man like Chulbul Pandey. This character is a larger than life kind of a person. I have yet a long way to go. I am in no hurry of choosing a man at this point of my life.”
Sonakshi says, “I do not like negative criticism. However, I love and acknowledge all positive critisicm. I always like to be in a positive state of mind.” Sonakshi is happy for doing the ‘Go Govinda’ item, “It is great dancing to the tune of Prabhudeva. He comes up with steps that are liked by both the performer and the audiences. Also, I am proud that this item number is very typical and looks great.” All praises for Arbaaz Khan, the director of D2, she says, “He leaves us to enact the scenes according to us. On the sets he says, ‘You have been there from the first Dabangg…ab tumeh kya bolun, you can perform exuberantly.’”
“I know Salman and I share a comfortable rapport on the sets. He always gives me his opinion which I always take into consideration only because I know his advice always benefits me. If he wants me to enact a certain scene a certain way, I do that and realize that his advice was right.”
Talking about her forthcoming films Sonakshi says, “Lootera will see me totally in a different avtar. Enacting a period character of the ’50s needed a lot of dedication and I had to adapt to certain mannerisms but on the whole it was fun to perform this character. I remember we worked for almost 17 hours one day while shooting and just did not realize the work load because we were so busy enjoying ourselves. Working with Ranveer I have realized that he is a methodical actor. He believes in rehearsing his scenes. My other films are ‘Once Upon a time’ and ‘Bullet Raja’.”
Sonakshi is also very fond of eating, “I cannot resist cheese, plump cake and few chocolate desserts. The next day I try to control myself but have to always keep in mind that I have to avoid certain items that add to my weight.”
Talking about her mom she says, “It is mom who always telling me to take care of my diet and she is the one who will come into my room and ask me to settle down my wardrobe also she keeps giving me tips of enacting certain characters in a certain manner. After watching my films she is the one who criticizes my performances. I do discuss scripts of films and my characters with mom. Dad is cool.”
