‘Geeta Ma comes to my rescue’
Season three of L’il Masters Make Way for Bachchagiri has just
launched and choreographer Ahmad Khan is kicked about his stint as a
judge on the show. He says, “I started my career as a kid in the film Mr
India.
As compared to children I come across these days, I feel back then I was really lacking in confidence. Children these days are so smart. They are sure of their dance steps as much as they are sure of their personal style. They don’t even hesitate before asking for a change to be made. I remember, when I was a part of Mr India, we’d do whatever we were asked to. We never asked questions. When we would be asked to sit still at one place, we never dared to move.”
Ahmed adds that the current generation is lucky to have multiple platforms to showcase their talent. “Yes, at times we do feel that they are under pressure, especially from their parents, who expect their children to excel and be number one in everything. As judges, we always try to make them understand that participating is more important than winning,” he says.
Speaking of his stint as a judge, he says his co-judge Geeta Kapoor was of great help. “Geeta Ma has taken it on herself to help me as a judge. Whenever I am in a fix, I just look at her and she comes to my rescue. It’s a crucial job and one needs to put their heart into it,” he says. The choreographer has also tried his hand in acting and production. “Yes, I have made enough of money as a producer. I feel it’s one of the best jobs. My first film Paathshala was a big boost for me and now I am planning to produce another one,” Currently, he is working with Salman Khan in Kick. “Making Salman dance to your tune is a great feeling,” the choreographer says with a smile. “Salman loves to entertain and we had a blast working together.
