On surname pressures: I surely have the pressures of belonging to the
Kapoor khandan. Comparisons are inevitable. However, at the moment I can only
confirm that as an actor, I have sincerely worked on my performance. I tried my
best not to leave any stone unturned. I have just stepped onto the Bollywood
bandwagon. Hailing from the Kapoor clan, I have been taught to be true and
sincere to my profession. And that is what I am clinging to. Well! Ranbir is a
fine actor. I am just a beginner there can be no comparisons at all, I am yet to
go a long way.
On grandpa Raj Kapoor: I was a fussy eater as a kid. My mom would play my
grandpa’s film Joker so I would finish my food while watching the movie as I was
very fond of the movie. No sooner did she play the video for me, I would love to
watch him enact as a joker and would quietly relish my food.
On Becoming a Joker: As I was growing up, I was very keen on becoming a
real Joker. I would keep coaxing my mom to allow me to work in a circus company.
The matter turned very serious as I heartily loved circus and the Jokers. I
decided to make people laugh at my cost. In my day to day life also I would love
to joke and make everyone laugh to their heart’s content. I would get some kind
of a satisfaction; Little did I know that I am not meant for circus.
On Grandma Krishna: I have grown up with my Nani around. I am really
thankful and happy as she is present here for the music launch of my debut film
LKHDD. Nani usually never goes out much, but she attended my event as she loves
me a lot. Getting her blessings is what I really need now. My Nana [Raj Kapoor]
is always with us. I know he is showering all his blessings on me from above the
heaven out there.
On the film's title: Being my first film and the title being inspired by a
classic, Lekar Hum Deewana Dil is from my Mami’s [Neetu Singh] hit filmYaadon Ki
Baarat-another reason for me to feel great. I am hoping my film too garners the
same success as Yaadon Ki Baarat.
What more can I ask for? I am getting the support of all my brothers,
sisters, uncles and aunts. Also the biggest support is my mom and dad.
The music launch saw the who’s who from the Bollywood industry in
attendance. Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor Rajeev Kapoor and the two famous
sisters Lolo and Bebo too graced the occasion.
Lekar Hum Deewana Dil produced by Saif Ali Khan and directed by Imtiaz
Ali's brother Arif, has a soundtrack by A R Rahman and will release on July
4.
