After tasting success with ‘Ship of Theseus’ (’SOT’), Anand Gandhi and Sohum Shah will be introducing a variety of cinema to the audience and the first amongst them is named ‘Tumbad’.
Set against colonial India and infused with elements of fantasy, “‘Tumbad’ is a dark period drama which commences from 1920. It also has historical versions especially from Maharashtra and Mumbai,” says writer-director Gandhi. Showcasing the pre-Independence era, the film will also cover Maharashtra politics.
The makers say that this film is mounted on a larger canvas compared to their earlier project. “The film will be five times the scale presented in ‘SOT’ and is totally different than the previous one. Sohum plays varied characters in the film,” informs Gandhi.
