‘Not jealous of Kapil’
With Kapil Sharma ruling the comedy scene, Raju Srivastava has now become a rare face. Taking it positively Raju says, “Kapil is doing well and garnering the highest TRPs, I am not at all jealous of him. I remember he would always come and touch my feet. I told him that he is very talented and would definitely make it big one day.”
Raju tried out his luck with a show on a different channel earlier but failed to garner eyeballs. However the stand up comedian is now trying his hand at dancing with his wife Shikha, in sixth season of the reality show ‘Nach Baliye’.

Rakhi Sawant’s New Year plans
Rakhi Sawant will be performing in Dubai on New Year’s Eve and if she were to invite one person, she would invite Narendra Modi for the bash.
“Yes, wherever I go I create a bang. I will be performing the hot item number from ‘Ram-leela’, which my friend Priyanka Chopra sizzled on. I also will be performing on Kareena Kapoor’s sexy numbers. My sole intention is to keep my folks happy on the eve of New Year so that they may get the real feel of Indian songs as they are unable to come here in India and enjoy them,” shares the actress.

Ekta Kapoor returns to what she does best
The queen of television, Ekta Kapoor is all set to recreate the magic of two Indian cultures, Punjabis and Tamilians through ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’.
“It’s a tale of a simple middle class girl with a past failed relationship. It is natural when a woman feels incomplete without a child. A woman marries a man even though she hates him the most, just for the sake of a child. The storyline touched my heart,” shares Ekta.
As it premiers on Star Plus on December 3, 2013 at 11 pm, not regretting the late timing, she says, “I really want the urban audiences to watch this serial. Thus I have no regrets for the slot at all.”

Love knows no boundaries
A quirky pairing of Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam launched the first look of ‘Total Siyappa’ (Total Chaos), which is directed by E Niwas of ‘Shool’ fame. Set in London, the film is about marriage woes between a Punjabi girl played by Yami and a Pakistani boy played by Ali. Talking about the film Yami says, “I am happy to work in a film which discourages the idea of cast and creed. It is about humanity and how people from different home lands come together for a love marriage.”
Pakistani singer turned actor Ali Zafar echoes similar sentiments as he says, “‘Total Siyappa’ will bring India and Pakistan closer. Everyone will enjoy this film as it portrays people in a comic way.”
The film is set to release in January 2014.

After tasting success with ‘Ship of Theseus’ (’SOT’), Anand Gandhi and Sohum Shah will be introducing a variety of cinema to the audience and the first amongst them is named ‘Tumbad’.
Set against colonial India and infused with elements of fantasy, “‘Tumbad’ is a dark period drama which commences from 1920. It also has historical versions especially from Maharashtra and Mumbai,” says writer-director Gandhi. Showcasing the pre-Independence era, the film will also cover Maharashtra politics.
The makers say that this film is mounted on a larger canvas compared to their earlier project. “The film will be five times the scale presented in ‘SOT’ and is totally different than the previous one. Sohum plays varied characters in the film,” informs Gandhi.

Katrina Kaif joined a long list of heroines including Aishwarya Rai, Esha Deol and Bipasha Basu in the Dhoom franchise when she signed up for Dhoom 3.
Talking about the experience, she says, “Performing in Dhoom 3 was tough. It has been a long wait for this film to release. I had to work extremely hard and it has been an interesting journey for me.”
Shooting for the action thriller had its share of scares for Katrina. “The most fearful moment for me was when Aamir and I had to hang from the harness. It was a real torture and very difficult for us to get the right timing. Had we got our timing wrong it would have surely resulted in broken bones,” says the actor.
Talking about her co-stars, Kat says Shah Rukh Khan is the toughest to get romantic with on screen. “Off the sets he is so cool, but as soon as he gets on the sets he is very different. I was very nervous doing romantic scenes with him.”
Talking about her Dhoom 3 co-star Aamir Khan, she says, “I would give a nine out of ten to Aamir. I am reserving the one mark because he left me alone and went to watch Sachin play for the last time.”
“I had feared the action scenes in the film as they had a typical style and the stunts were hard as well as challenging. So much of my time went into training. My trainer keeps on messaging me to attend training regularly but I am always running away from him. Having worked for this film for more than two months, I want to take a break from the gym for a while,” she says.
Talking about a particular incident with Aamir Khan, she says, “I was doing an acrobatic dance where I had to put my leg on his shoulder. He kept telling me to put it lightly as he had hurt his shoulder. And whenever I put my leg he murmured ‘thanks’. He is a cool guy; it was fun working with him.”

Not many know that Imran Khan had rejected Gori Tere Pyaar Mein four times. “I did not find the initial drafts very entertaining. I always felt that we needed to make a film like I Hate Luv Storys. Finally Puneet Malhotra, the director, requested me to read the fifth draft and said, ‘If you don’t like it this time then we will not do it.’ This time, however, I realised what exactly was on his mind. Therefore I agreed to do the film.”
Imran adds that he missed his I Hate… co-star Sonam Kapoor in GTPM. “Yes, I do miss her. But I cannot ask the director to cast her. Working with Kareena for the second time was a lot of fun.”
About his criteria for choosing films, Imran says, “When I read the script I should feel like buying a ticket and watching the film in the theaters. I feel the promos of any film should ignite that feeling in audiences. A film has to be entertaining enough.”
His last film, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaraa had failed at the box office. Talking about it, he says, “My role was appreciated by everyone. At a certain level we lose control. All we can do is perform our parts well. All our big stars have given flops. But this year has definitely opened up new avenues. My next film is Bhavesh Joshi. It is based on a rebel guy who wants to bring about a change. But yes, I have a rebel inside me,” he adds.

Not many know that Imran Khan had rejected Gori Tere Pyar Mein four times. “I did not find the initial drafts very entertaining. I always felt that we needed to make a film like I Hate Luv Stories. I told Puneet that IHLS was a success, so let’s try along the same lines. Finally Puneet requested me to read the fifth draft and said ‘If you don’t like it this time then we will not do it.’ This time, however, I realised what exactly was in his mind and I agreed to do the film. Now I realise that IHLS was superficial compared to GTPM, this will be closer to everyone’s hearts.”
Imran adds that he missed his I Hate… co-star Sonam Kapoor in GTPM. “Yes I do miss her. But I cannot ask the director to cast so and so. Working with Kareena for the second time was a lot of fun. We could add more to the pages given to us.”
Since his debut, Imran has changed a lot. “I like to bring changes with every film. Personally too, I do find a lot of improvement in me. Anyone from the creative field would always love to perform better. The day we creative people feel that we need not grow, we would’ve become stagnant. Everyday is a learning experience for us. I have grown with every film,” he says.
Not many know that Imran’s wife Avantika and Puneet were friends even before Imran was introduced to her. “Their grandmoms were great pals. So Avantika, like a true friend, always tries to pinpoint drawbacks in his filmmaking. She loved Gori Tere… but she still told him ‘you are so bright, you should use your intelligence better’. Puneet is literally very scared of her,” the actor says.
About his criteria for choosing films, Imran says, “When I read the script I should feel like buying a ticket and watching the film. I feel that the promos of any film should ignite that feeling in audiences.”
His last film, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaraa had failed at the box office. He says, “My role was appreciated by everyone. At a certain level we lose control. All we can do is perform our parts well. All our big stars have given flops. Our profession is very unpredictable; we cannot vouch for our films. But that does not mean we sit down and not move ahead. If it is pouring, then we need to buy an umbrella and move on. We feel bad but we can’t be bogged down by failures. Do not take success to your mind and failure to heart.”
Imran adds, “This year has definitely opened up new avenues for me in terms of roles. From Matru… to the negative character in Once Upon…. and the next will be Bhavesh Joshi. It is based on a rebel guy who feels that things are not happening in the right way. He wants to bring about a change. I am yet to get into this rebel character. I am working on it though.”

Terence sports the grunge look Nov 02, 2013 - Lipika Varma | Age Correspondent

Terence sports the grunge look

tv1.jpg
Terence Lewis loves to experiment with his looks. In the upcoming season of dance reality show Nach Baliye, the choreographer will be seen sporting a grunge look. Is it inspired by Ranveer Singh in Ram-Leela? “Not at all! I can’t look like him. Besides, my hair is short unlike his. Also my mustache is thin and elegant, not rustic like Ranveer’s,” he says.
Terence will be accompanied by Sajid Khan and Shilpa Shetty on the judge’s panel. We ask him about his equation with the two. “Sajid and I share a very good rapport. What I love about him is that he is very blunt and speaks on the face. From what I know, Shilpa and Sajid have not had many differences of opinion either,” he says.
Terence believes that the idea of the show is not as much to pick the best dancer, as it is to allow couples have a ball while dancing.
“The whole idea is to let couples have a great time on the dance floor. We have deliberately chosen couples that aren’t very good at dancing. But this show may give them the inspiration to shake a leg sometime,” he adds.

Kavita pays tribute to Madhuri Dixit
The audiences have always seen her as a tough cop. But Chandramukhi Chautala (Kavita Kaushik) is all set to shake off that image as she slips into a ghagra for a popular Madhuri Dixit number. The actress will be seen grooving to TV pe breaking news haaye re mera ghagra from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani for SAB Ka Diwali Mela.
About her new avatar the actress says, “I am in awe of how Madhuri Dixit. She dances with absolute grace and elegance and my performance is a tribute to her popular ghargra song. I am sure the audiences will enjoy my act.”

‘Dad was shown the promos first’ Nov 02, 2013 - Lipika Varma | Age Correspondent

‘Dad was shown the promos first’

Abhishek Bachchan attended the very first promotion of his upcoming film Dhoom 3 with his left hand in a cast.
“I injured myself while working out and ended up having a torn tendon in my elbow. However, I have not taken a break from working and gym,” he says.
“But I do not wear it while Aradhya is around… I wear it only when I have to go out as a precautionary measure,” adds the doting father.
About his father, Amitabh Bachchan’s reactions to the promos of the film, Abhishek says, “Yes, dad was shown the promos first. Adi is probably continuing the tradition Yash Uncle had started. He too showed the earlier Dhoom trailers to dad. Keeping that in mind, Adi showed it to dad before anyone else. It was indeed great to get positive response from dad.” He adds, “The promos are awesome!”
Though the previous two Dhoom movies had been superhits, the makers are expecting more from Dhoom 3 — scheduled for a December 20 release — because of Aamir Khan’s presence. Talking about Aamir, Abhishek says, “The very first time when Aamir called me on my mobile phone, he just continued talking. ‘Hey… the script of D-3 feels great. I am sure it is going to be great and we will enjoy sharing screen space.’ I did not have a clue what Aamir was talking about, but went along with him. I hadn’t even read the script. But seeing Aamir’s enthusiasm, I did not want to let him down. I was sure about what he was saying even though I had not read the script.”
Talking about Aamir’s humbleness, Abhishek adds, “I have learnt so many things from Aamir. Before a take or during discussions, he very humbly asks, ‘Aisa theek lag raha hai na?’ He tries to bring to your notice whatever we would be doing before going for the take. I like his confidence and also the fact that he makes everyone else around him confident.”
Abhishek’s character is the same in Dhoom 3 as it was in the earlier two movies. “I have not been promoted; I play the same police officer,” he jokes, adding, “Maybe in the next Dhoom, I will get promoted to DCP.”

Dippy loves Copenhagen Oct 27, 2013 - Lipika Varma | Age Correspondent Email this page

Dippy loves Copenhagen

Having international badminton player Prakash Padukone as her father meant that Deepika travelled the world from an early age. She talks about her favourite destinations and of course, food.
“Since I was born in Copenhagen, Demark, it is my favourite city. And when I get the time, I love to shop in London and Dubai, that satisfies my shoe fetish. My wardrobe keeps on changing according to the advice of my designers,” says the Ram-Leela girl.
“However, I love street shopping. And wherever I go I take time out to shop to my heart’s content,” she adds.
“I also love Bhopal. While shooting for Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan I loved the peace and serenity of Bhopal. In the evenings, when the day’s shoot was over, I would love to take a cup of coffee and sit by the window and enjoy the sunset.”
About her eating habits while travelling, she says, “I always carry homemade food while travelling. I am very fond of south Indian dishes made by mom. And she still worries about my food when I am travelling.”
“In any country, I always look forward to eating at Indian restaurants,” she adds.
“Recently I travelled by road from Chandigarh to Manali and due to delays, I left my food behind in Chandigarh. Luckily my mother’s advice to my staff saved the day. She had directed my staff to always carry packets of biscuits and these biscuits came as a blessing during the trip,” says Deepika.
“I love to go on holidays after a film shoot is done. I also love to go to Bengaluru where my parents live especially because I relish my mom’s dishes. Now since I have my own flat in Mumbai, my parents can join me often,” she concludes.
