Manna Dey, the singing legend is presently battling for his life in the intensive care unit of Narayan Hospital, Hyderabad.

The Padmabhushan, Padma Shri, and Dada Saheb Phalke winner was hospitalised on June 8, 2013. Subratto Da, his secretary confirms, “I spoke to a family member and she has confirmed that he has not breathed his last. However, his condition is critical and he is in ICU.”

Born on May 1, 1919, Dey took lessons in music from his uncle Krishna Chandra Dey and Ustad Dabir Khan. Dey started his career in playback singing with ‘Tamanna’ in 1943. His fans and family are anxiously praying for his recover
