Sonam Kapoor not always the style diva

Sonam Kapoor is known to make headlines more for her fashion sense than her acting. But this wasn’t always the case with the Bollywood diva. She reveals that she never wore skirts in school.
In her new film, she plays a school girl named Zoya and is seen wearing a school uniform in parts of the movie. But Sonam, who did her schooling at a school run by the Arya Samaj, had to adhere to the strict dress code of a Nehru pant and shirt. “We weren’t allowed to wear short skirts, so this was a new experience,” she says.
Sonam’s school girl look in Raanjhanaa is strikingly similar to the character of Guddi played by Jaya Bachchan decades ago. “I watched Guddi when I was a kid and when I read the script of Raanjhanaa, it reminded me of her. I needed to start somewhere, so I took inspiration from Guddi,” she shares, while adding that Zoya’s nature is entirely different from Guddi’s but she has borrowed the ‘spunk’, body language and energy level.
Although, she has spent so much time working in a romantic film, Sonam’s own love life hasn’t been too happening. “My romantic life has been unsuccessful. I am unquestionably single now. In love, one needs to be ready to forgive the other. There should also be compassion to heal the bitterness,” she says mysteriously.
“But I’m happy to have done such a film.” she says.
Adding, “It feels nice to experience what I failed to get in my personal life.”
