Pursuing human values
Q: What is your religion'
I do not believe in any sort of religion. For me, it’s understanding human values and respecting brotherhood feelings.
Q: So what’s the way of life you follow'
I follow a global way life — Kimmaya. It does not restrict us from following any religion or cult in particular. It is, in fact, a way of living which allows a human being to intelligently follow a positive attitude in life. Kimmaya does not allow you to just believe in materialism, it is in fact a way that wants us to pursue human values in life.
Q: After Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai you’ve not had any big break.
Yeah, I’ve not been able to cope since I had a terrible back problem and I was advised total rest. I am hoping to come back with my films, Shunya and Hostel. In Shunya,I am opposite Naseeruddin Shah and the script has been written with Anurag Kashyap. I play a glamorous role in this film while in the latter I am playing a college girl and I try to bring some changes in the hostel life of students.
Q: Are you sure you’ll be successful now'
I have worked in Yash Chopra’s Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai. Before that I had some films which I had rejected. I was very sure if I work at all I will work with the bigwigs of filmdom only, and I was able to do just that. Matrubhoomi a serious film, is a milestone in my career. I am not very rigid and I can easily adapt to the environment. This side of my personality will make me successful and help me achieve the goal that I am looking forward to.
Q: What are your limits on exposure on screen'
I am not here to get involved in any skin exposure but, yes, if it is the demand of the scene then I would definitely think it over. For me, exposure has to connect to the scene.
Q: So, would you do item numbers'
Why not' Item numbers are a part of a film and if I am convinced and feel that a particular number would suit me I’ll do it. I will not hesitate to dance to its tune. But one thing I must tell you, our industry typecasts artistes very fast, which I dread.
Q: What are your other passions in life'
I love adventure. Trekking and travelling are my other passions. I love to visit different cities and villages and also like to try their eateries. I also like to write. Maybe, in the near future, I will write short stories and publish them.
