BJP candidate Hema Malini made a dream political debut from Mathura Lok Sabha constituency by defeating incumbent Jayant Chaudhary of the RLD by an impressive margin of 3,30,743 votes. The Bollywood’s Dreamgirl polled 5,74,451 votes against 2,43,884 votes bagged by Mr Chaudhary, son of RLD chief Ajit Singh.
Celebrating her win, her husband Dharmendra, who was a single-term MP from Bikaner, said, “Truth had to prevail. I am thankful to all Mathura residents. Hema ki jeet unki jeet hai. I was very much touched to notice Shri Narendra Modi seeking the blessings from his mother. It was indeed an emotional moment. I could read between the gestures that Modiji’s mother was making. She was advising him to do something good for our Motherland,” the filmstar said.
He said he was sure his wife would win from Mathura. “I am happy that my jat bhais also showcased their love by voting for her with this great margin. I assure them that Hema will definitely fulfill all her promises and will try her level best to bring about maximum improvement to the state.” Dharmendra, who is flying from Chandigarh to be with Hema Malini in Delhi, also promised to visit Mathura soon.
A happy Hema Malini said that India is experiencing “Modi Lehar.” “This change proves that people of India are looking forward to their basic needs being fulfilled, which they have not got since the Independence. The right to proper living, food, employment and being the basic needs. I have won by a huge margin and this is because of the sheer love of the Mathuravasis. I am indeed very happy,” the actress said.
“I will definitely fulfill all my promises and bring in a better Mathura for my people. If I do not serve them than I have no place to live here,” she added. Hema thanked her husband and daughters Esha and Ahana. “Dharamji has supported me in spite of being unwell during my canvassing period. He is flying from Chandhigarh and will meet me in Delhi tomorrow. I must thank my daughters and Dharmaji for having supported me in this political stint of mine
