About hobnobbing in Hollywood:
It’s been a great journey… from being a small town girl from Haryana to doing films in America, and even meeting the US President Barack Obama.

Did the attitude of filmmakers here change because of your Hollywood connection?
I don’t know. Only directors can answer that. I think all actresses are hot and sexy and are figure conscious these days. Kissing is no big deal.  And there, I don’t think any director approaches a girl because of her figure.  I guess I got Dirty Politics because the director liked my work.

Does she take her comparison to Marilyn Monroe seriously?
You can’t take them seriously. They are yours today and they will be with some other actress tomorrow. What stays is the kind of work you do.

You did a show to find a husband for yourself. With that, is your quest for love over?
It was a dating show, we never promised marriage. I did the show because I wanted to reach out to young girls in small towns and tell them that it’s okay to meet a guy. I managed to do that.

How is your relationship with your father?
It has not changed, but my father has mellowed and he is more accepting of me and my career choice than he was ten years ago.  So it’s a step in a positive direction.

Is the storyline of the Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush-starrer Shamitabh inspired by Rajinikant’s life? Says a source, “In the movie, Dhanush, follows the profession of his mother, selling edibles at a bus depot… and thereafter works as a bus conductor. How he becomes a superstar is what the story is about.”
He adds, “The story is also slightly inspired by the life of Dhanush’s father-in-law, Rajinikant. “Shah Rukh was approached for the role earlier. But it’s beneficial for the film that it was finally Dhanush who did the role. This has given immense freshness to the film,” says the source.
About his role, Amitabh Bachchan had said, “I play a frustrated old man, jo hamesha sharab mein lipta rehta hai (who is always immersed in drink).” The source adds, “Amitji plays a drunkard. The climax scene in his baritone voice was not only breathtaking but everyone present on the sets had tears in their eyes.”
“Amitabh plays the keeper of a well-known graveyard. It’s situated near a tea estate down South where the climax scene was canned.”

No takers for Sangeeta Bijlani role

Director Anthony D’Souza and the team at Balaji Telefilms are in a tight spot as no actress is keen to play Sangeeta Bijlani in the Azharuddin biopic.
First Kareena Kapoor walked out because she allegedly wasn’t confident about the way her role would shape up in the film, then actress Kriti Sanon politely declined citing “date issues”.
When contacted, Kriti refused to comment. She said, “I only talk about films that I have signed.” So now the makers are waiting for Jacqueline Fernandez to get back to them.
The reason behind actresses showing no interest in this role according to the grapevine is because they allegedly are wary about Anthony D’Souza’s ability to do justice to them and pull off a hit.
The director’s last three films, which include the Sanjay Dutt-Lara Dutta starrer Blue, have bombed at the box-office. Actresses are, thus, scared that he might botch their role.
When contacted, Anthony denied approaching both Kriti and Jacqueline. So who is he signing for the role? To this the director said he was busy at the moment and would talk later.

Since her Bollywood debut with Heropanti, Kriti Sanon has been going places. And her Tollywood journey too, with Sukumar’s psychological thriller opposite Mahesh Babu, had seen a good start.
Kriti, who is busy these days dividing her time  shooting in Hyderabad and Mumbai, talks to DC about her current projects and her future plans.
“My career is doing well both in Tollywood as well as Bollywood. I just finished a few days’ schedule in Hyderabad for the Telugu film Dochai, being directed by Sudheer Varma,” says Kriti, adding, “Naga Chaitanya is the male lead opposite me. We have finished shooting all the songs as well as 90 per cent of the film.”
Talking about her B-Town projects, she says, “I have Singh is Bling with Akshay Kumar and then I have Farzi with Shahid Kapoor.” Kriti mentions that she is still not very good in Telugu.
“I usually mug up my Telugu dialogues much before going to the sets every day. Yes, emoting become slightly difficult as half my mind is concentrating on speaking the dialogues correctly.
But till now, I have always managed to complete the entire shoot without any scene going kaput. I definitely have to put in a lot of effort but that’s the challenge I have to face.”
She adds that she does not find much difference between the two industries. “I find the working pattern to be the same in Bollywood as well as Tollywood. Especially because most directors of photography from the Telugu industry operate in Bollywood too.”
