Shouting slogans of “go back to Mumbai… we want justice,” a group of people agitating against superstar Salman Khan in connection with a case registered in Hyderabad last year, tried to march from Mughalpura to Falaknuma on Monday. Salman’s sister Arpita marriage ceremony is scheduled at the Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad over the next few days.
A social worker on Thursday had urged the police to arrest Salman, who is facing two criminal cases in the jurisdiction of the Banjara Hills and Falaknuma police stations. When Salman’s father Salim Khan was contacted over the issue, he said, “I am just boarding the flight to Hyderabad for my daughter’s wedding reception... All I can is say that I am the happiest father today. I am not aware of any agitation at all. We are all in a celebratory mood.”
The issue that the group was agitating over is about a complaint that had been registered against Salman for “insulting” Muslims during a Being Human fashion show. A video showed a model walking the ramp at the show with “Allah” written in Arabic prominently at the bottom of her gown. It is unclear when and where the event took place or what the intention of the organisers or the designer was, but as the clip did the rounds of social media, there had been a big backlash from the Muslim community.
