Heady with the success of his latest movie Ek Villain, Sidharth Malhotra’s status has moved up and he is getting acclimatised to a star’s lifestyle
When Sidharth Malhotra, a simple Delhiite, came to Mumbai for his debut film Student of the Year, he was awestruck by the glitz and glamour of the world of showbiz. He never imagined how quickly he would have to get acclimatised to Bollywood’s social graces and lifestyle.
“Yeah, after the success of SOTY, one day I decided to buy a cotton quilt and some pillows. I walked down the lane to the shop, no sooner did I choose the pillows and quilt, the shopkeeper recognised me and instructed his workers to carry my stuff and leave it in the car, without knowing that I did not possess a car! I was stumped, made some excuses saying ‘well! I have to shop for something else, why don’t they put it in an auto for me’. I was so relieved when I drove away in the auto,” he reminisces.
But now heady with the success of his latest movie Ek Villain, Sidharth’s status has moved up. “I have managed to buy a Mercedes. I am happy though commuting in a car is more time consuming. How I wish I could ride on my bike. I do so sometimes and since I wear the helmet, so no one recognises me,” he says.
The next question is about owning a house in Mumbai. “That’s a dream coming true for all newcomers to the city. Mercedes mili, ghar nahi mila! I have done just three films, so I am not in a position to buy a flat for myself here in Mumbai. My next step undoubtedly will be buying a house here in Mumbai. I am saving money for that,” he says confidently.
