‘I am in love with everything’
Bipasha Basu has been seen quite often in the company of Priyanka Chopra’s ex-flame Harman Baweja. The Bengali beauty, however, brushes aside rumours that she was having an affair with the failed actor. “I am in love with everything around me. The day I start seeing someone, I will update all.”
Giving a touch of philosophy to her fitness mantra, she says, “Life is so precious. We as women have to fulfill our duties in different roles and we bind the home together. I have learnt this from my mother. Hence, I believe that women need to take good care of their health.”
Sharing a few health tips, the actress adds, “If you don’t have health, you don’t have anything. If you don’t have time for your body then you are following the wrong things. One needs to have enough time to keep a tab on one’s health.”
This dusky star confesses that her mother has been a great inspiration in her life. “My philosophy of life is simple, to love yourself. My mother had to look after three girls, yet she didn’t ignore her own health. She has taught us that it is important to take care of health and give it immense priority,” she concludes.

Bollywood and Mumbai police divided on prevention of crime against women
While Mumbai police blamed Bollywood item numbers for provoking men, producer Mahesh Bhatt walked out in anger
With the recent spurt in atrocities against women across the country, the million-dollar question is should Bollywood films just provide entertainment or also serve as a medium for change by promoting social values? On Monday leading personalities from television and film industry brainstormed about how crime against women can be controlled? This being the first interaction of its kind, many celebrities from B town— Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar, Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, Boney Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar and many more attended the meet.
Sources from the police authorities on condition of anonymity confirm, “For the past few months rape and many other heinous crimes against women is being faced one after the other. Especially Mumbai, which allowed free movement irrespective of sex, has been overshadowed and women cannot move freely anymore.” The source further revealed that a video was shot, which has been conceptualised by the police authorities and was shown before the meeting commenced. “We put forth our concern and our complain along with the video. It clearly showed that item numbers, pelvic thrusts and other sexually enticing scenes do ignite the feeling of wrong doings in the minds of the already sick men. In order to bring an end to crime against women it was mainly discussed that film makers be responsible enough to not shoot such provocative scenes,” the source added.
Satyapal Singh, Mumbai Police commissioner said, “We indeed want the film and television medium to support our cause of eradicating crime against women. Thus making Mumbai a crime free zone especially for the crimes committed against the women folks.”
But when the discussions further tried to put the producers and directors in a tight spot, Mahesh Bhatt and Javed Akhtar refused to agree that the films are responsible for igniting wrong doings amongst men. They maintained the fact that film is a medium, which represents the facts, but by no means films can stand responsible for bringing down the ethical values in men folks. Over heated discussions that ensued, Mahesh Bhatt walked out in anger and even refused to comment to the media.
Lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar said, “I get very nervous to pass by any Police station!” Refusing to comment on the video he smilingly added, “Since Shabana is part of the video, I will not be able to comment anything on it.”
While Salim Khan appreciating the efforts of the Maharastra police said, “Our Maharashtra police authorities have fulfilled their dutiful act from time to time in a pristine manner, when compared to other states. Also, they have maintained their fear amongst the ‘junta’ of Maharashtra and thus the crime rates here in Mumbai is pretty low.”
Ajay Devgn on a note of cooperation said, “When we face any family problems, we surely sit down together and try to solve it immediately. Similarly we all need to support the agenda of the Maharashtra police authorities for the betterment of the society.” Akshay Kumar echoing Ajay’s cooperative stance said, “We all need to have a positive state of mind and need to help the police authorities in every way to reduce the crime rate on women that has increased recently.”
Producer Boney Kapoor encouraging the good start made by the police authorities said, “We have just begun and I feel that this move of Maharastra police authorities will definitely bring in positive changes in the society. We all need to support this cause whole-heartedly. Well, the threatening calls issue was not discussed in this meet.”
In the open press meet, the agenda was not discussed clearly and everyone present were just beating about the bush. Whether this step will fructify into a long-term change is a matter of concern and much contention.

No politics for Bullett Raja's girl Sonakshi Sinha

Shatrughan Sinha is doing good for himself into politics, just like the many Bollywood’s veteran celebrities who have made their mark there. However, his dearest daughter, Sonakshi Sinha wants to stay away from it. She says, “Right now I have no inclinations to join my father. In fact I think politics is not my cup of tea. If at all I decide to contest elections in the future, then I will have to learn important and shrewd political lessons.”
Sonakshi adds that she doesn’t have her father’s qualities to be in politics, “I am not confident that I can handle people well, as my dad does. I lack trait of handling people and cannot deal with them as a politician is required to. I am happy doing films.”
As for her Bollywood career, Sonakshi had a lot of films released, but barring a couple of them none made an impressive mark at the box office. Sonakshi’s recently released film ‘Bullett Raja’ has her portraying a character of a Bengali girl, romancing Saif Ali Khan.
Sonakshi adds that she doesn’t have her father’s qualities to be in politics, “I am not confident that I can handle people well, as my dad does. I lack trait of handling people and cannot deal with them as a politician is required to. I am happy doing films.”

Saif Ali Khan opens up about working with new directors and his production house

Saif Ali Khan always manages to make it in the news, be it his controversial affair or his temper tantrums at press conferences. Recently the actor walked in late for a promotional event of ‘Bullett Raja’, but far from apologising, the actor lost his cool at the journalists. Just like all the other controversies, this one too will die soon. On a much lighter note, the actor here talks about his professional life as a producer and his hobbies.
On production
As a producer we make films, but not always to make money. Every filmmaker tries to make only a good film. The same people try to bring something different in order to prove themselves successful. Our production house has lost money at times. ‘Agent Vinod’ bombed at the box office, while ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Cocktail’ fetched critical and commercial success at the box office. I feel if we get the right proposal and the right people at the right time then no filmmaker will ever face any loses.
Doing patriotic films
Whenever one talks about a patriotic film, Manoj Kumar comes to my mind. I may think twice before doing any such film. I feel if a patriotic film is presented with a pinch of entertainment then it may work for me.
Debuting directors
Soha and Kunal Kapoor keep meeting exciting people, I always keep telling them to look for some young and good directors. This way I can enhance my production house as well. I think it was Soha who introduced me to Tigmanshu Dhulia.
On direction
I would not like to name anyone, but when I work with bad directors I feel that I can do a better job instead of them. Direction is a tough job, I would always prefer acting.
On his choice of cinema
I have grown up watching Nirupa Roy’s films. We always ended up crying after watching her do so. My mom’s films too make me cry as I do not want to watch her cry. Amongst my favourite are ‘Madhumati’ and Bimal Roy’s and Guru Dutt’s films. But most of the times I do not like to watch movies or serials as we are always dealing with it professionally. In my free time I love to watch some American comedy.
Not a voracious reader
I mostly read Western writers. I have read Salman Rushdie and Umberto Eco’s books. I am very slow in reading a book and yet to finish reading one which I started at the beginning of this year. On an average I can read for about half an hour. Kareena mocks at me for not completing any book for many days, but that’s fine with me.
On production

“I am not a hands on father but a good parent. I am very self-centred because of which I get involved in my work extensively. However, whenever I get time, I narrate stories to Azad,” shares Aamir.
On celebrating his son’s birthday, the actor says, “Azad has ushered in a lot of happiness in our lives. He doesn’t allow me to get out of the door; hence I have to take him with me on shoots. He will be two and we are celebrating his birthday.”

Once a popular comedian, Raju Srivastava opens up on competition, ‘Nach Baliye’ and his political ambitions

With Kapil Sharma ruling the comedy scene on the small
screen, Raju Srivastava has now become a rare entity. Believing in the
change Raju says, “Kapil is doing well and garnering the highest TRPs, I
am not at all jealous of him. I remember he would always come and touch
my feet. I told him that he is very talented and would definitely make
it big one day.”
Raju tried out his luck with a show on a different channel earlier but failed to garner eyeballs. However, the stand up comedian is now trying his hand at dancing with his wife Shikha in the sixth season of the reality show ‘Nach Baliye’. “My wife was very uncomfortable with the idea of dancing hence we rejected the offer thrice. Being a housewife she was not very open to it, but after little coaxing from the family members, she agreed to perform. She took up the dance show as a challenge. I also encouraged her and said that she has talent to show,” says Raju. But Shikha was given some strict instructions from her mother in law while performing on national television. Adds Raju, “When I told my mother that Shikha is performing on the show, she instantly said, ‘I don’t have any problems, but ask her to keep her head covered with her saree.’”
There are several other television ‘jodi’ performing on this reality show. A confident Raju says, “I have done singing and dancing at several marriage ceremonies and ‘baraat’, so I know a little bit of it. Now I am going to incorporate all of that in this show.” Known to imitate Bollywood’s superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Raju states that he will stay away from doing that on ‘Nach Baliye’.
Apart from keeping his onscreen presence alive, the comedian has jumped head on into politics. Reveals Raju, “Since I belong to Kanpur, I have joined politics from there. I want to make the city garbage free and also work on the electricity problem there. Also I want to clean up the river Ganga. People usually feel that Bollywood celebrities can bring about a positive change hence I am getting a lot of positive support. Therefore I do not want to dishearten them. I will see to it that I meet their demands and bring a smile on their face.”
