Kapil Sibal writes 'luvvy-duvvy' lyrics for Bollywood song

India's communications minister, already a poet in his spare time, has found another outlet for his creative ambitions: penning a slushy love song for a new Bollywood film.

Despite his challenging role as a minister and government troubleshooter, Kapil Sibal took up an offer by actor-director

Aditya Om for the film Bandook and wrote four songs, one of which made it into the movie.

Sibal's romantic number "showcases the pangs of separation of two lovers", Om told AFP.

"His exuberant knowledge of literature has enabled him to pen beautiful luvvy-duvvy lyrics," he added. The Hindi lines include: "romantic eyes, admire shyly, declare love silently".

The film, releasing this month, looks at gun culture in northern India and the link between crime and politics.

"I really appreciate (Sibal's) knowledge of the vast subject that is portrayed in my film, which attracted him more than anything," said Om, an upcoming director looking to break into the mainstream with the release.

Sibal, 64, already has two collections of poetry under his belt and has linked poems to politics in the past.

The lawyer-politician told a newspaper that he normally wrote on his iPad during flights, and that he was very busy with work when he penned the lyrics.

"The Bandook song is already available in ringtones, though I haven't got it as yet," he added.

In his ministerial post, Sibal has come under fire from free-speech activists after he championed an amendment to India's IT act in 2009, which makes it illegal to post "grossly offensive" comments online.

Hackers attacked and defaced his website in November amid protests against the law.

‘Ek Thi Daayan’ actors left with infected eyes

The shoot for Emraan Hashmi’s supernatural thriller ‘Ek Thi Daayaan’ is going at a blitzkrieg speed. The first trailer of the film will be unveiled soon.

The latest news from the set at Film City is that Hashmi’s eyes have got infected as he has to wear lenses throughout the film. So much so that a doctor had to be summoned. The doctor, on condition of anonymity, said, “The whole crew wears lenses and got infected as they have to wear it throughout the shoot. Hashmi’s eyes too were infected. However, with immediate treatment they all got relieved of eye pain. Owing to wearing lenses continuously through the shoot they suffered infection. But now everything is fine.”

Inkar makers invest 2 crore in survey

Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Inkaar’ - starring Arjun Rampal and Chitrangada Singh - which deals with sexual harassment at the workplace has become the talk of the town. Sources reveal, “The country-wide assessment has been custom-built by the makers, who are also collaborating with a professional agency for the same. The survey will be conducted in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune and Chandigarh.”

Sources further added, “The makers are also set to invest around Rs 2 crore for the survey and the respondents will be asked hard-hitting questions on topics such as sexual promiscuity and gender advantage.”

A book released recently gives dating tips to girls. What do men feel about dating women and what all girls need to do. We decided to ask Anushka Sharma what her dating mantra is. “What is this book all about? I have not read it. I would definitely like to read it. If it says go ahead for parties and meet boys then it depends on the choice of the girls who like to follow the advice of this book. For me it is just the other way around. I am very boring. I treat boys as friends. I do not need to seek any advice for dating boys. I am smart enough to not date them. [She smiles] While dating a boy do not give him any attention. If he has a bad body language or abuses you, break up instantly. Insensitive, unemotional boys should be dropped like hot potatoes,” she shrugs.
